Recently NASA has started training on Hawaiian volcanoes in order to test the viability of living on
mars. This brings up the question whether God would want us to live on Mars or if we should stay on
Earth? Or if intelligent life is found whether they would believe in God or would be considered part of the church?

If we were able to live on Mars, find a way to terraform it, etc., it would be very expensive. That money can best go to benefiting Earth and improving life there. If any form of sentient life was found, I would highly doubt they would even consider following our notion of religion. Think of it the other way around, would we be willing to follow their religion?
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that we are moving into something amazing. If we lived on mars, we would probably meet aliens and have galactic weapons. That is, if we make it that far...Anyway, I think since God created this world, he would rather want us to stay on Earth. Though, God gave us free will. So it's not up to Him, it's actually up to US if we want to fly out to Mars or stay on Earth.
ReplyDeletePope Francis said he would accept aliens into the Catholic Church if they wished to join, and the Pope is considered infallible on church matters, is he not? As for the other way around, earth humans joining the religions of other planets, well, why not? Religion is a personal matter, any sentient being is free to hold whatever metaphysical beliefs they wish. Personally, I think it's a great idea to settle on mars, that way when(not if, when) something catastrophic happens to dear old Terra the human race will continue.
ReplyDeleteI believe that we could live on Mars without interfering with God's plan. God created the Earth and I am sure that if he wanted us to stay that he could do that. Since he made us with the power of choice, then it's our choice to expand on potentially living on other planets. If life is found on another planet, then a question comes up did God create them? God created us in his image, but if aliens look very different, then is there another force out in the galaxy that is just as powerful as God.
ReplyDeleteI believe that we could most defiantly go to Mars. God created earth, so we can do things that he meant for us to do. If God only wanted us to do the simple things, our lives would be lame. When we use our surroundings and then do other things with it, like go to mars, and do amazing things. Our whole universe was made for a reason and we are meant to go explore them.
ReplyDeleteI think this event questions the idea of Christian belief and practices since some more traditional Christians believe that God created the Earth for humans and, therefore, we must live according to His/Her creation. Technically, this could also be an issue of sacred space place since Earth is sacred to almost all religions. Incorporating human life on Mars might take away the unique aspect of our planet. It's (so far) the only area humans can survive and by having humans on Mars, we disprove this fact. For those who are religious, this event can "threaten" the idea of God creating the Earth for the sole purpose of human benefit.
ReplyDeleteI don't think God would disagree with the idea of us living on Mars. God essentially created the universe in its entirety, and Earth is only a piece of that. If manifest destiny is ordained by God, I don't see how this would be any different. If we do meet intelligent aliens, they probably would have religions, or similar services of their own, although they'll likely be different from ours. Our Gods might be the same.
ReplyDeleteI think we should live in Mars if we continue to follow God's plan. God might has a better plan to live in Mars with better place and freedom and Earth, further we can continue to do things that God wants us to do.
ReplyDeleteWe should stay in earth, because earth is sacred place of God. There are lots of churches and Christians who worship God. Although if someone alive in Mars is found, people need to just focus on living in earth, since in bible, earth is the only planet that was mentioned, and it is the only place God provided us to live. It is important to follow what God says
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think it should matter where we are, or where we go; as long as we set our hearts to God it shouldn't matter. As long as we continue to do the work of God, and do what he expects of us, then it wouldn't matter what planet we were on.
ReplyDeleteIf God is opposed to us living on Mars then he should not have created us with the ability to do so. It doesn't make sense to willingly give someone power and then get upset when they use it, so I don't think God would be opposed to us living on another planet as long as we don't hurt any life that may already reside there.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that God would be opposed to humans living on another planet because he created the universe for all living things. If he was opposed to human living on Mars I don't believe that h would've given us the ability to do so therefore it shouldn't be a problem as long as we respect whatever is already there and don't cause harm to the planet.
ReplyDeleteI think that god would provide and do whats right in making the decision if he would support the people on mars if they would ever start living on there.
ReplyDeleteI personally think that certain people and sciences try to act like God, but I don't think that God would oppose people to explore new living conditions for His people.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think God wouldn't mind at all if we inhabited Mars. God created everything to have a purpose. Was the intention for us to explore outer space? Maybe, or God was open to the idea. It depends on how God thinks, and know one truly knows.
ReplyDeleteI believe that God would be okay with us living on Mars. He created us for a purpose; not just a purpose though, our own purpose each. So if one of us decides to live on Mars, that could possibly be our purpose (to find another place to live other than Earth), then God should be okay with it, although we will truly never know what he thinks.
ReplyDeleteI don't think God has much decision over what we do in our decisions when it comes to where we leave, especially on what planet. We just know that God made the world for us to live in it, but he also made other planets, and gave us the intelligence to solve any problem in our way, and that can include going to other planets.
ReplyDeleteIts cool how we are moving into something Just Great. We lived on mars we would probably see weird things like aliens . Since God created Earth he would Rather want us to stay . Its really actually up to us if we really went to fly out to mars or stay on Earth
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting topic because we really don't know if God is okay with in this situation. However, I believe he is okay with the idea of a possible move to another planet. We as human beings should be allowed by the eyes of God to explore what is out there.
