  1. It’s nice to see that the Church is coming out of the Dark Ages and is beginning to work somewhat with science instead of against it. The solution the Pope gave is not a perfect one, but at least it is a step in the right direction.

  2. It's good that both science and religion are coming to an agreement with a statement. I think it's a big step on how we figure out how the world was formed. Not only that, science and religion as a whole. It's been an all out war for years on who is right and who is wrong, but I think this will lower the tension a bit.

  3. I cannot say I care about the Catholic Church's position on Science. Physicists will continue to seek the fundamental laws that govern the universe (as bounded by the uncertainty principle) heedless of any outside body's opinion on their activities. Scientists generally do not seek to advise people on the nature of the transcendental realm so Theologians should seek to not advise people an the nature of the physical realm.

  4. It's good to hear that the church is now embracing the facts about science which have substantial evidence that contradicts with some Catholic teachings like the Big Bang Theory. It's god for the church to expand their minds and stopped being narrowed minded and denying everything that they didn't want to see or hear about.

  5. It is true that human beings are created through lots of scientific evolution, but still we cannot say that all religions or bible teachings are false because of that scientific fact. Science is showing how humans are created, but religion/bible show us why human beings are created by God's mercy and power. Science exists because God exists. God has absolute power which means all scientific happenings are included in God.

  6. I like that the Church is now to the point where they are now not just focusing on religious truths, but also some scientific reasoning is incorporated into their daily beliefs.

  7. Humans are created by God, as well as Science is the study of how the human creations are made. Science is based on the human work, which we are thinking about how the humans work and made by using the resources as an evidence.
Bible is from God's word, and created with absolute power. Therefore, we should have faith in God rather than controversies.

  8. This is a paramount moment in religious history. Prior to this announcement, there was a lot of debate as to whether to not one could believe in both creation and evolution. Since the Pope says it's alright, he not only contradicts the word of his predecessors' he makes it canon law. I guess this could fall under both religious history, belief and practices, and a sacred time. It's hard to categorize since this event is more likely to lead to other ones that will be branched out even further. I like the fact that the pope addressed this issue since it shows that science and religion can coexist without hostility.

  9. This announcement brings together science and religious belief. For a long time people thought of evolution and creation as two separate entities. Now people are free to believe a modification of what was taught in the past, that creation and evolution can coexist with compromise. Evolution proves that God did not create the world in the literal sense of creating people out of thin air, but that doesn't mean he didn't create evolution.

  10. I think it's great that the pope took the time to say this because a lot of people believe that some religions don't believe in evolution or science. Finally someone spoke out about this issue and it just happened to be the pope.

  11. I think this major event in the church's history will be the gateway to other barriers in the church to be broken down. It also makes me happy that the church accepted the signs that had become basic knowlege science community decades ago.

  12. This is a major event in church history because people in this world don't pay attention to the past or present of the church and this is definalty a call to say that the church is a big part of history

  13. To start off, I think that Pope Francis is the most accepting and understanding pope that Catholicism has ever had. In the past, the idea of evolution and religion have never been in unison. Having one of the biggest figures in Catholicism acknowledge the idea of evolution and religion as one is a big step for Catholics and the faith.

  14. This is a great event. As most people already realized, in the past Catholicism never included the idea of evolution. The fact that the pope is now trying to come up with a mixture of the ideas in both religion and science is great. I think this will open more opportunities for the catholic Church to be even more open.

  15. It's good that the Pope was able to clarify that religious groups do NOT believe in science and evolution as to how the world was formed. I'm also glad that he clarified that God is NOT a wizard or magician and that He is the creator of all life on Earth and that there is no contradiction between God and the Big Bang Theory. It's about time someone cleared this up and I'm glad that someone was the pope.

  16. it is good that the Pope recognizes that science is an important part of the world, and that it can;t just be disregarded if it conflicts with Church teachings. Unfortunately, the people who need to hear this message the most, aren't the ones who listen to the Pope regularly.

  17. Here, Pope Francis tries to show to the scientific community that God does exist, and He is the main reasoning of creation. God is the belief of what happened, and science just inputs how it happened in details. Yes, God is not a magician but with the power of his divinity and miracles, anything is able to happen. Even in science, they can never completely explain how miracles happened.

  18. Its great to see the church is really coming out of the Dark Ages and beginning to work or something with science. Catholics teachings like Big Bang Theory.

  19. I am happy that the church has finally attempted to bridge the gap between religion and science, especially because I believe in both. I don't think that religion should be the reason to discredit science because it is pointless to even attempt. Science can also be considered the study of God's work, and can be used so that we can enjoy what God gave us even more.

  20. It's great to read this because there are many people who just attack religion with science and they really dont understand that both can make sense. It just shows that the Pope is not blinded and can acknowledge science.
