Brian Aranda & Brandon Chan's Current Event Moment

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865611280/Bystanders-flip-SUV-to-rescue-teen-from-river.html

This is a video showing bystanders saving teens from a car that crashed into a river. Luckily, the teens were able to get out of the car! Though, they were taken to the hospital with serious injuries...It relates to religion because from what we can see from this video, the community is involved in doing God's word; which is helping others in need. We can relate this to our everyday lives to make relationships closer with others, especially friends, and to get along with people we don't usually meet during the day. We can also possibly make new friends.

  1. I found the video to be very heartwarming. It is not every day you see people go out of their way to someone in need. I am happy the teens were safe, although I would like to know why they crashed in the first place. The video/event reminds me of Divine Revelation and how God’s will acts through people.

  2. I guess this could be viewed as a sacred time. Not in the sense that those teenagers were drowning-unless the universe intended them as a sacrifice but I doubt it-but because all those people banded together to save them. The people probably had no idea who the person was standing next to them, but nevertheless, they all worked together to save the teenagers. That's what makes it a sacred time. These people united together under a certain cause and let it connect them when they otherwise would have probably never talked to each other. It's like the Jewish tribes and how they formed together as one major body, still comprised of the 12 original tribes, but all answering to one king. The time itself doesn't matter, what does is the people and their actions during that time.

  3. After watching this video, I realized how much the people's compassion and empathy for other other person could create a miracle. If no one cared about those teenagers' lives and didn't try to help them out, then they would have all dead. But people decided to help them out, which was kind of brave and awesome. And this is exactly what God wants us to do in our lives. Strong willingness to contribute ourselves for other human being always make great miracle.

  4. If I had to choose what category this video would fall under, I would put my bets on places. When the car ran off the edge and crashed into the water, dozens of people who witnessed this horrific accident climbed into action. They didn't care about how it happened, but only to save the teenagers from drowning. This shows that people will all join as one to share a common goal, if theres a location that requires help to save any living being.

  5. I liked that the people, even today, reacted so quickly. It makes you think that there are still people who care out in this world. I also liked how no one wasn't trying to help exempt the person holding the video camera. I also liked that no one just kept driving and thought oh someone else will call 911. If people did keep driving and think that those teenagers would have died. I like that people are willing to risk their life for someone they have never met.

  6. I think that this video fall into the sacred time because today there aren't a lot of people around the world who tries to help other people when they are in the situation of video that we saw. However, I liked how people are generous to willing to help another people, since most people aren't altruistic.. this is what God wants us to do, is to help each other instead of ignoring people who are in that situation.

  7. I liked the fact that so many people were able to rally together so quickly in order to save lives. This just shows that people are good and that they don't care who you are, they will help you. This should also show people that others need help, not just in near death situations but everywhere. Some people need help in general or need somebody to help to uplift them. Hopefully this story can inspire people to start to realize that others around them need help and to start helping those in need of it.

  8. This video was inspirational in that it showed a rare case of strangers coming together to save lives. It was a heroic act and it shows that in times of trouble there are people there to save you. Specifically, this connects to Catholicism because those people who came together, saved the teenagers captured in the car, similar to God saving us from our burdens and sins. The group of heroic people are acting the way God planned and wanted us to live.

  9. I think that this is a good example of beliefs in action. All of thease people acted out of the belief that Human life is valuble, the belief that it is good to help those in need, and the belief that people can work together and overcome great odds when combined in their humanity. They stood side by side and blind to all rifts of difference moved a 4000lb SUV on the belief that those teens deserved to live.

  10. This video is an example of what we can get done when we put aside our differences. If three lives were saved at once we set aside our differences and realize that we have more in common than anything else we can acomplish bigger and greater things

  12. This was a very inspirational video. This shows that people know what common good is and how the can display it by saving other lives. The people in that car could have drowned and that's when people came together as one to help one another. Just how Jesus wanted us to help and love one another.

  13. This video was a good example of Judeo-Christian beliefs and principles in action. A group of people set aside their differences and put their own needs on hold so that they could help out a group of teenagers in need. They exemplify the idea of helping others, at no benefit to oneself.

  14. This video was a good example of people come together and work as a team to save a couple of teenagers lifes. Who cares if we don't know those people but we would still do anything to help and save those lives that were at stake.

  15. This video is a great example of doing the work of God, by being good stewards and serving others in the best way we can. It doesn't matter if they are strangers, they are just like us; and we should help them no matter who they may be.

  16. This is a great video. It shows that as humans, we have so much potential to do great things. We can set aside our differences to work together and achieve great things. If only we could work as a team all of the time, then maybe we can reach even great heights.

  17. The video was very moving, to see people in the community come together and save the teens lives. This shows that there are people still out there doing the good of God. To me these people are hero's.

  18. This event shows how even though it seems like people morals are becoming worse and worse they still have some saving moments. They are still willing to help save the lives of others, and even if it takes an extreme example to show this good in people at least it is still there.

  19. This video is a great example of people living by the word of God. The fact that these strangers went out of their way to help the teenagers in danger encourages others to do the same. It is rare that strangers help someone in this situation but these people did and that is truly inspirational
